Canyons

  Like caves, Canyons give us a glimpse into our geological past by revealing layers of rock or "Strata" that show the surface composition from an ancient land, sea floor, or hydro thermal activity.  These layers also leave additional artifacts in the form of fossils which can continue to tell a story of a very distant past and how life was millions of years ago. I like to look at canyoneering or canyoning as "caving with the sun" as there are some similar attributes that Accommodate both activities.
